PIVOT works in partnership with communities in resource-poor areas by combining accessible and comprehensive healthcare services with rigorous scientific research to save lives and break cycles of poverty and disease. PIVOT integrates data with healthcare programs to measure the impact on the population they serve, produce knowledge for improving and scaling the model, and advance scientific innovation for Madagascar and beyond.
For example, PIVOT is transforming health outcomes for the population of Ifanadiana District, Madagascar. PIVOT’s research shows that the likelihood that a mother will deliver at a health facility and that a sick child is treated increased by 25-30% per year. This increased health access has contributed to a 18% annual decrease in neonatal mortality and a 10% annual decrease in under-five and maternal mortality.
Wagner Foundation believes in building health systems that provide high quality care to the community as well as gathering data along the way to prove the model. As a result of building a holistic health system, you not only save lives, but also begin to break cycles of poverty and disease in the process.
